Translating Automations and Campaigns with WPML

If you’re looking to create multilingual campaigns and automations for your website, WPML (WordPress Multilingual) is a powerful tool that can help. WPML seamlessly integrates with other plugins like String Translation, allowing you to manage translations for your campaigns and automations. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of translating your campaigns and automations using WPML.

Prerequisites: #

Ensure you have WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML String Translation plugins installed and activated on your WordPress website. If not, you can install them from the WordPress Plugin repository.

Translating Campaigns: #

1. Start by creating your campaign. Make sure it’s saved in “draft” mode before sending.
2. After saving the campaign, go to the list of campaigns.
3. Hover your mouse over the campaign you want to translate.
4. A “Translate” link will be displayed. Click on it.

Translating Campaign Fields: #

1. WPML will display all the fields in the campaign that can be translated.

2. You can now proceed to translate these fields. This translation will be sent to the user when the campaign is delivered in their preferred language.

Translating Automations: #

Automations are a bit more complex because they are based on user behavior. When you create an automation, it’s often tailored to specific user actions or conditions. Here’s how to handle translations for automations:

1. Create your automation as you normally would, considering user behavior and conditions.
2. However, please note that automation emails are tied to specific user behaviors. For example, if a user initiates an automation and receives an email in their native language, changing the translation later might not affect that particular user.
3. It becomes crucial to think about language preferences during the initial automation setup. Consider creating separate automations for different languages or ensuring that users have the option to specify their language preferences during the automation setup.

In summary, translating campaigns and automations with WPML involves creating separate translations for campaign fields and considering language preferences when setting up automations. Keep in mind that automations are behavior-based, and once triggered, they may not update the language if changed later. WPML provides a seamless way to manage these translations and offer a multilingual experience to your website visitors.

By following these steps, you can effectively implement multilingual campaigns and automations on your WordPress website with WPML and provide a better experience for your diverse audience.
